This code covers Umpires, Administrators, Coaches, Team managers and any other officials.

You must ensure the standards of the Fair Play Code are applied by demonstrating the five core values that will lead to fair play for all:

Integrity          Respect          Responsibility          Fairness          Safety

In addition to adhering to the General Code of Conduct, you must meet the following expectations when participating in any activity under

Netball Victoria, or its affiliated Associations, Leagues/Clubs:

  • Treat all officials, teammates, opponents, and volunteers with respect and fairness.

  • Be honest, considerate, and accountable in all interactions.

  • Be punctual, well-presented, and use respectful language at all times.

  • Accept responsibility for your actions and take reasonable care to prevent injury by fulfilling your role appropriately.

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, impartiality, and integrity.

  • Resolve conflicts promptly and fairly using established procedures.

  • Be aware of your legal responsibilities and avoid actual or perceived conflicts of interest. If they arise, acknowledge and document them.

  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive sporting environment that prioritises enjoyment and development—especially for children.

  • Involve relevant parties in planning and decision-making.

  • Ensure activities, equipment, and facilities are age-appropriate and safe.

  • Treat all equally regardless of gender, age, race, religion, ability, sexual orientation, or background.

  • Refrain from all forms of harassment.

  • Comply with the Netball Australia Member Protection Policy.

  • Comply with the Netball Australia Child Safeguarding Policy.

  • Encourage fair play among all participants—players, coaches, umpires, administrators, parents, spectators, sponsors, and health professionals.

  • Support efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse.

  • Recognise and value the contributions of all volunteers and staff.

  • Feedback (positive or constructive) is encouraged via the “How did we do today?” form.

MPNA’s codes of conduct are modelled off Netball Victoria’s codes and are updated to align with MPNA competitions as recommended by Netball Vic.
