Representative squad
With a focus on promoting the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical well-being, MPNA squad offers a supportive environment for individuals to develop their netball skills and be part of a vibrant sporting community. Squad Netball with MPNA provides athletes an opportunity to play at the next level further developing and enhancing their skills. This is the beginning of further pathways for our domestic players and offers access to coaching and competitions aimed at player development.
Our squad season runs from November to August starting with pre-season then into weekly games, training and tournaments - rounding out the year with a wonderful celebration evening.
Each year we hope to select the following:
2 teams of 11&Under and 17&Under
3-4 teams of 13&Under and 15&Under

MOTIVATE
we motivate our athletes to grow and develop, take risks and motivate others to do the same

PERSIST
we teach our athletes that persistence pays off and how to channel the positive energy required to deal with the highs and lows

NURTURE
working closely with each of our athletes enabling them to be the best versions of themselves

ASPIRE
we help our athletes aspire for greatness!

Selections
Our selections usually run in the first couple of weeks of Term 4 each year.
Our trials are run as closed sessions with a team of completely independent selectors along with our squad coaches who watch and assess the local talent and potential.
There is usually up to 3 trial sessions with all participants attending at least 2.
Our selectors look for many attributes including:
-
Skills
-
Attitude
-
Willingness to learn
-
Teamwork
-
Potential
Pre-Season
In November and early December we run a series of pre-season sessions off the court and out and about in our wonderful community.
These sessions focus on fitness, getting to know each other and team building.
They also form the basis of the holiday program that players are asked to complete to maintain and build fitness and skill over the summer holidays.
Squad Camp
One of the favourite parts of our squad program. This is where our players get to spend 24-48 hours with their squad coaches and team mates building relationships and learning about what makes each other tick.
Our players have the best time completing team building activites, fitness sessions and work together to set expectations for the season ahead.

Costs & Committment
Whilst we try to keep costs to a minimum we do have to charge to ensure that all costs are covered. Our association does contribute a significant amount towards the program however there is still a gap.
Currently we charge between $600-$800 which includes weekly game fees, pre-season, camp day sessions, coaching, tournament entry costs, fun training nights, administration etc.
All families are also required to take part in our fundraising BBQ's and help out with other tasks. Teamwork makes the dreamwork!
Training
We train on Tuesday's as our main session night and run sessions that cover all aspects of being a netballer and part of the MPNA Squad.
This includes:
-
Fitness
-
Skills
-
Mental health & Wellbeing
-
Nutrition
-
Fun nights
-
Pizza nights
-
Buddy sessions across age groups
When do we play?
Our MPNA Rep teams play between 6-8 tournaments each year mostly in the south east of Melbourne.
All of our teams also play in a weekly competition.
